The bow cabin, which is usually known as the “ranch” has four berths. Traditionally, there were fewer berths than crew as the “hot bed” system was used, where turns were taken using them.
While sailing, it is the most uncomfortable place and it is where the movement of the boat as it cuts through water is most noticeable.
The floor is a wooden storage cupboard that can be lifted in some places, such as the place where the chains are.
