Eglise Saint Rémi

Description

The church features a fine 18th-century piéta, restored by the Louvre, and an 11th-century polychrome Auvergne cross. The bell tower-porch was built in the 14th century. The arcades giving access to it are now walled in; the north arcade has a door in its infill. The belfry, cushioned by a timber-framed roof, replaced a belfry that stood on the first bay, whose vault has an oculus for the bells; this former belfry was accessed via a narrow staircase housed in the corresponding south buttress. This access has been preserved for the belfry-porch.
The church was fortified in the 14th century. The hourds' holes can be seen at the chevet and at the rectangular opening that gave access to the parapet walk. The second floor of the bell tower-porch had an opening at the top of the vault. You'll also be able to appreciate a statute
