Church dedicated to Blessed John Paul II in Podsarnie
Church in Podsarnie is the first church in our diocese dedicated to Blessed John Paul II ( not including the Centre of JP II in Cracow). Possibly it is the first church in Poland, while the parish dedicated to Blessed John Paul II is one of the two parishes in our diocese.
The beginning of foundation of our church is associated with the creation of parish dedicated to the Mother of God of Perpetual Help in Podsarnie – Harkabuz on 3rd December 2006.
The short history of parish and church
Fundamental construction work lasted from 30th August 2006 to 10th October 2010,
it was as follows:
26th June 2006 bishop Albin Małysiak consecrated the building site of church,
23rd June 2007 Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz embed the cornerstone, consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI, in the foundation of church ( you can see it in the vestibule of church)
10th October 2010 Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz consecrated the church.
23rd June 2011Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz issued a decree that conferred the title of Blessed John Paul II on church and parish.
Work at the finishing the temple is still in progress.
