At present, nothing is left of the bridge which used to be about two hundred yards to your left.
Its original dimensions were impressive (L: 260m, H: 33m, 10 arches, 18,000 m3 of concrete), the great bridge was built in 1915 by Russian prisoners of war under German control. It connected Vielsalm and Born and was part of a main rail link established by the Germans. On the morning of 10 May 1940, the great bridge was destroyed by Belgian artificers to prevent it from being used by the enemy.
Time also ravaged this fine bridge, whose arches collapsed one after the other.
