René and Georgette Magritte rented the ground floor of this house for 24 years (1930-1954). After a 3-year stay in Paris, the couple settled in this apartment with a garden.
This is the place where Magritte lived the longest. His surrealist paintings were not successful then, but it was nevertheless the most creative time of his career. He created more than half his works here!
