Eglise paroissiale Saint-Pierre

Glèisa_Bòsc

Description

The construction of the Saint-Pierre de Boos church remains a mystery, but it can be dated to the 12th-13th century. Records of the church date back to the 14th century, when it was associated with the miraculous fountain of Saint Clair, which explains why it houses an oak statue of Saint Clair. Supposed to heal eye diseases, the saint seems to be imploring the sky while a child at his feet points out his sick eyes.

In the 14th century, the church of Saint-Pierre de Boos abandoned its original patron saint to dedicate itself to Saint Clair, whose miraculous fountain attracted pilgrims until the 20th century.

Thanks to the short-lived profits generated by the plantation and exploitation of pine trees in the region, the church was completely rebuilt in 1903. Donations made by pilgrims were then used to cover the maintenance costs.
