SCEA Néthymoules Bitard is a family-run business specialising in the breeding and collection of bouchot mussels.
The produce is delivered and sold to various customers and direct from the hut.
Before being a profession, the breeding of bouchot mussels is above all a family passion, which they want to share with you thanks to the quality of the product.
With your satisfaction in mind, they are on hand to advise you and share with you delicious recipes for preparing your mussels and enjoying them.
What is the Bouchot mussel?
Bouchot mussels are unique in the way they are reared. They are produced exclusively on oak stakes (called bouchots) in the foreshores, after the larvae have been collected in the natural environment.
Bouchot mussels have excellent nutritional values. They are one of the richest sources of calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and selenium.
They are renowned for their very creamy flesh. The shell is at least 12 mm thick and no longer than 8 cm.
What is "la Plainaise"?
This is the name given to the Plaine-sur-Mer bouchot mussel. It was created in 2011 by the six mussel farmers of La Plaine-sur-Mer.
This allows them to distinguish themselves in terms of the quality of their shellfish and gives consumers a better idea of where to find them.
