Une vingtaine de châtaigniers austères de 250 ans d'âge et un cèdre du Liban remarquable forment l'écrin verdoyant du quartier de Wixhou ou 'bois béni'.

Ces vénérables ancêtres aux troncs tortueux offrent refuge et subsistance à de nombreux animaux. Abri pour le pic ou le lérot, réserve pour l' écureuil, ressource pour les abeilles, .... Certains champignons en voie de disparition ne se trouvent que sur ces très vieux troncs.
