LA JAIRAZ HAMLET

The hamlet of La Jairaz (1200m) brought together many communal buildings including a chapel devoted to Saint-Bernard-des-Alpes (prior to 1613), a sawmill (communal building still visible today) and mills which used La Rosière and Les Gravelles’ streams to produce the energy required for the buildings to function. Saint-Bon’s residents produced electricity from here for the first time prior to 1914.
