Villa Juno - Chambre années 40

We have completely renovated in 2021 this house built in 1836 and its garden to make it a guest house and share our taste for the Côte de Nacre and its history. Located in the village of Saint-Aubin sur Mer, the villa is 100 m from the beach, the seawall with its cafés and restaurants. The decoration of each of the 4 rooms combines design and vintage to evoke one of the decades of the "thirty glorious years" until the "70s". The breakfast is composed of regional products or prepared on the spot. We will be very happy to meet you and to guide you, if you wish, to take advantage of the tourist and cultural resources of the region. See you soon!

Room 40: the engravings bear witness to a world of conflict: The Blue Lotus (1934) which takes place during the Manchurian War was published in its colored version in 1946. Fautrier's hostages represent the martyrs of the resistance. The map of the D-Day landings shows the delay in the capture of Caen by the Allies, their progression towards the West, and the "Falaise pocket". The pictures of the fighting on rue Canet were taken on June 6, 1944 in front of the house (which had received a shell, killing its occupant).
With the Reconstruction, optimism returned: the portrait of Françoise Gilot dates from the first year of her life with Picasso (surely the happiest period of the painter). The reproduction of Picasso's white cubist guitar is made according to a process invented by Vercors: the "callichromy". The cinema is a very popular leisure (you will be surprised by the flexibility of the wooden cinema chair).
The 120 cm headboard shows the increase in the standard size of a double bed since this period. The queen size bed and the modernity of the bathroom and the separate toilet bring you back to the comfort of the 2020's.
