Their names are Léonard, Thomas or Françoise, they are Canadian, British or French, soldiers or civilians, and they were present on our Normandy beaches in June 1944. Some of them landed on Juno Beach, others lived on the Côte de Nacre and had been waiting for the Allies for many months; they tell us what they experienced and reveal the images that have stayed with them forever? the fear, the anguish, the noise, the bloody battle, the arrival of the Canadian soldiers with their funny accent and, finally, the joy of being liberated. This outdoor exhibition of cubic story kiosks pays tribute to those who witnessed the D-Day landings - soldiers and civilians alike - through their testimonials and biographies, all illustrated with archival images. The exhibition takes the form of a historical and memorial thread running through the communes of the Juno Beach and Sword Beach sector: Courseulles-sur-Mer, Bernières-sur-Mer, Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, Langrune-sur-Mer, Luc-sur-Mer, Reviers, Douvres-la-Délivrande. It is complemented by the "Dans leur Pas" web application web application, free of charge and with no download required. This application can be consulted 24/7 from your home or in front of the D-Day landing beaches. You'll find poignant testimonies in video, audio and text. It also tells the story of the liberation of our villages on Juno Beach and Sword Beach in the early hours of June 6, 1944, with archive photos.
