Fontaine-chapelle de Grigeas

Description

The Chapelle de Grigeas, located in the heart of the forest, refers to Saint-Psalmet, a hermit famous in the Limousin mountains for having founded the town of Eymoutiers. There he settled in a secluded, deserted spot, but joined by his reputation for healing, and bothered by ever-growing crowds, he moved further into the Grigeas forest. The fountain is said to cure snakebites, stomach aches and childhood illnesses. A cross made during the pilgrimage is placed in the chapel. Young girls wishing to marry well would come here to deposit their garter. To discover the chapel, go to the hamlet of Grigeas and follow the signposts, or take the 7.6 km loop trail Le Chemin de la Chapelle de Grigeas.
