Fontaine-chapelle de Grigeas

The Chapelle de Grigeas, located in the heart of the forest, refers to Saint-Psalmet, a hermit famous in the Limousin mountains for having founded the town of Eymoutiers. There he settled in a secluded, deserted spot, but joined by his reputation for healing, and bothered by ever-growing crowds, he moved further into the Grigeas forest. The fountain is said to cure snakebites, stomach aches and childhood illnesses. A cross made during the pilgrimage is placed in the chapel. Young girls wishing to marry well would come here to deposit their garter.
