The garden at Vaux-le-Vicomte is arranged around a perspective more than three kilometres long. This major axis reflects the innovative spirit of FOUQUET and LE NÔTRE.

By setting the scene for the château and outbuildings in a 40-hectare space carved out of the heart of nature, LE NÔTRE and LE VAU achieved for the first time the most perfect relationship between architecture and landscape environment of the entire 17th century.
