The Notre Dame church, founded at the end of the 11th century by Thibault de Beaumont, Seigneur of Bressuire, was modified many times. In the 12th century, the rounded arches (called "Angevines") were added to the nave. In the 16th century, the Roman chancel was replaced by a vast sanctuary, later decorated with frescos at the beginning of the 19th century. Its 56m high Renaissance bell-tower overlooks the city and its surroundings.
