According to the transaction between parish priest Guillaume Péchimbert, the parishioners and Pierre de Montpezat, seigneur de Frégimont, construction of the church began in 1506. It had not been completed by 1551, at the time of the vicar Vallier's visit, as he asked the parishioners to "finish basing and erecting the bell tower, and to complete the said church in the quality it has begun as soon as they can".
The church suffered damage during the Wars of Religion, according to the minutes of the 1572 visitation. However, it was repaired in 1639 during the archpriest's visit, although it had no vaults. It comprises two chapels: the south chapel, dedicated to Notre-Dame, belongs to the local lord, while the north chapel is dedicated to Saint Blaise. It was enhanced by the creation of the new Place des Arcades and its forecourt.
