Village de Thouars-sur-Garonne
Description
The village has developed around the ford which has enabled the Garonne to be crossed since time immemorial. Traces of the existence of a toll castle can be found in the 13th century, of which only the reputation and a few writings remain today. This ford was part of the Ténarèze, the road that linked Bordeaux to the Pyrénées Orientales.
