Description

Listed as an historical site of interest since 1909, this park is on a par with the King’s Gardens and Baths (Jardins du Roy and Bains du Roy). The Garenne Park was created in the 16th century by Jeanne III of Albret and Antoine de Bourbon and was later extended by Queen Marguerite, Henry IV’s first wife. Visitors can wander down the Allée des 3000 pas, past the Saint Jean fountain, the statue of Fleurette, and the Dauphin fountain towards the Chemin des Amoureux, or “Lovers’ Pathway”, a favourite with the ladies of the court, and with Nérac locals today.
