Bouliac, at an altitude of 76 meters, offers a remarkable view of Bordeaux and its metropolis. The village is ancient, since Gallo-Roman and Merovingian remains have been found there. With its preserved environment, it has preserved a strong character thanks to its heritage, which is now highlighted. The church of Saint-Siméon, built in the 12th century, is remarkable for its Romanesque sculpted decoration found inside the apse and on the portal with its beautiful voussures. The church was fortified during the Hundred Years War. Bouliac also has elegant and old houses, among which are the domain of Monjouan (18th and 19th centuries), the castel of Vialle (18th century) and the domain Luber-Chaperon with its charterhouse of the 18th century. The Hôtel Saint-James, with its aesthetic reminiscent of the tobacco drying sheds of yesteryear, is the work of the architect Jean Nouvel.
