The Church of Saint Hilaire la Combe

The Church of Saint Hilaire la Combe

Description

This Romanesque church was built in the 12th century, on the site of a Paleo Christian edifice which is perhaps the oldest Christian sanctuary in the region. The Church of Saint Hilaire de la Combe, classified as a historic Monument in 1970, was completely restored from 2015 to 2017. It has beautiful painted decorations from different eras from the 12th to the 18th centuries. The contemporary stained-glass windows are by Madame Michiyo Durt-Morimoto, a Japanese master of glass. The church is managed as an exhibition space by the Association of Friends of Curemonte. it is freely open to the public when the space is hosting art exhibitions of paintings and sculpture. Outside of these exhibitions, it is possible to arrange free group visits by contacting the Association of Friends of Curemonte (06 80 40 98 63)
