Located on the borders of Bearn, facing Armagnac and Bigorre, Lembeye occupies a strategic position on a branch of the road to Compostela. To resist the inevitable incursions of its neighbors, the village is set up as a bastide towards the end of the XIIIth century. It became Protestant in the 16th century and was devastated during the religious wars and burned down by Catholic troops at the beginning of the 17th century, which led to the reconstruction of most of the houses in the village.
A circuit of about 2 km leads you to discover the bastide. Discover the Place Marcadieu with its 18th century houses, the Clock Tower, the Hautes Promenades path with its view of the Pyrenees mountain range, the gothic style church and its flamboyant style portal? A brochure is available in the offices of Lembeye, Morlaàs and Arzacq.
