Description
La mairie n'a pas été toujours une mairie
Les halles sont ouvertes en 1853. Cette construction s'inscrit dans une volonté politique forte d'améliorer le cadre vie des habitants. Le projet fut proposé par l'architecte cognaçais Cavillon comprenant trois pavillons rectangulaires. Les deux pavillons latéraux, abritant les bouchers et les grains, encadraient une grande halle polyvalente. Cet édifice devint une mairie-halles en 1871.
De nos jours, l'édifice a perdu ses fonctions marchandes.
