Tour de l'horloge (Clock Tower)
Description
The Tour de l'Horloge, headquarters of the Pays d'art et d'histoire de Riom Limagne et Volcans, has been a listed historic monument since 1862. A privileged witness to the town's history, it has survived the centuries to take on its current silhouette.
Former belfry, rebuilt during the Renaissance on its medieval base (1391).
Octagonal tower with clock face, crest, collar of the Order of Saint-Michel and salamander of François 1er. The dome dates from 1785.
Self-guided tour of the city's former belfry: permanent exhibitions, tactile models, 360° panorama. Enjoy the panoramic view with orientation table at the top of the Tower! Discover the history of the town and its districts, as well as that of the Pays d'art et d'histoire region, before enjoying a breathtaking view of Riom Limagne et Volcans and the Chaîne des Puys, a U.N.E.S.C.O. World Heritage site.
