The village of Saint-Saturnin is located in a listed, unspoilt area. Its steep streets, wash-houses and surroundings overlooking the Monne gorges require careful driving. Please respect the paths and the fragile heritage of this medieval village.

Perched on a basalt mound, Saint-Saturnin, classified as a Petite Cité de Caractère®, boasts arkose and volcanic stone architecture, a medieval La Tour d'Auvergne castle and a major Auvergne Romanesque church.
Strolling through Saint-Saturnin is a real pleasure: signs all over the village invite you to discover its great and small history, revealing the wealth of its monuments.
Set on a lava flow overlooking the Monne gorges to the south and the Veyre valley to the north, the village is surrounded on three sides by the hills of the Parc Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne.
Its landscape is dominated by a spectacular, harmonious duo: the Romanesque church, one of Auvergne's five major churches, and the medieval château built in the XIIIᵉ century by the de La Tour d'Auvergne family, key figures in the region's history.
The narrow, sloping streets reveal Renaissance dwellings, winegrowers' houses, washhouses, fountains and small shady squares. Every turn reveals a fragment of the village's signature arkose and volcanic stone architecture. For a natural immersion experience, the "chemin des lavoirs" leads to the Monne gorges, offering a gentle transition between built heritage and wild landscapes.
