Maison Luc - Art Nouveau

Description

1901-1902
Architect: Jacques René Hermant (1855-1930)
The Maison Luc is a large, classically-designed townhouse built by Jacques-René Hermant for Victor Luc, one of the Luc brothers, who ran a tannery-corroierie and a tannin extract factory.
In 1900, the two brothers bought two adjoining plots to build their own residences: only Victor Luc's residence remains.
Gentil-Bourdet, an eminent ceramist, created an extraordinary flamed sandstone staircase, unique in Nancy's Art Nouveau architecture. In addition, Jacques Gruber supplied a magnificent "Paysage des Vosges" stained-glass window and Louis Majorelle, the fireplaces in the salons.
