Château de Coussay

Château de Coussay is located in the Mirebalais region near : Mirebeau and its XIVth century ramparts, the Scévolles forest and the Guesnes leisure area.

Richelieu, before being enthroned as a cardinal in 1622 and having responsibilities that kept him at court, stayed many times in Coussay, especially during his period of exile in 1617 due to the disgrace of the Queen Mother, Marie de Médicis, of whom he was a favorite. In June 1621, the latter even spent a few days at the castle.
