Fronton, the Toulousain vineyards. Its roots going back to the Gallo-Roman period, these vineyards were developed in the Middle Ages with the arrival of the Knights Hospitallers (Order of Saint-John of Jerusalem). Legend has it that after the Crusades they brought a grapevine back from Cyprus called “mavro” (black in Greek), transformed over the years into “la Négrette”. A unique variety of grape which has become the local grape grower's pride, the AOC Fronton area is spread out over 20 townships between the Tarn and the Garonne providing its incomparable set of landscapes and wines.
