
Shale cross
There are a number of interesting crosses to discover along the paths and streets of La Plaine-sur-Mer.
The Renaud Cross looks very old: this irregular cross is made from a natural block of schist with blunt edges.
It marks the entrance to the town, along an old ancient path.
This path, marked by Gallo-Roman sites, linked La Plaine-sur-Mer to Sainte-Marie-sur-Mer.
When a deceased person was taken to church along this route, the procession stopped to place a small wooden cross in the niche in the base of the Renaud Cross.
