Clairefontaine lies 4 km of Arlon, on the Luxembourg border. Impossible to stroll in the valley of Clairefontaine without striking against or stumbling over ruins. A short visit of the archaeological site of the Cistercian Abbey of Clairefontaine (13th to 18th centuries) is a must. The Neo-Roman Chapel "Our Lady of the Bel Amour", built from 1875 to 1877, is a spot where light and stones interpret their message soaked in history. Ermesinde, founder of the Duchy of Luxembourg, lies in the crypt of the chapel. The St-Bernard's spring offers passers-by an excellent water, supposed to be "miraculous". A garden of medical plants lies close to the ruins of the Abbey. The whole site is open to everybody, every day from 8 a.m. to 20 p.m. The Rivulet Eisch towards a dam of World War I, as well as the Karlsbierg (in front of the school run by a community of Holy Hearth Priests) are worth going for a walk.
