Aubange

The district of Aubange, called "the three borders country", is haunted by the old sandstone crosses from an agricultural era; and by the silent factories- the ghosts of the iron industry- all of which bears witness to labours from other ages. Here too is the meeting point of two languages, flowing into each other with infinite discretion. Athus has an important past as a steel production area: the last factory closed its doors on 5th September 1977. Today, Europe’s onward march has included Athus in what it has agreed to call a European Development Centre.
