Musée communal de Herstal

Located in a former 17th century residence, the Museum of Herstal (Musée communal de Herstal) puts the spotlight on this municipality on the banks of the River Meuse. From Charlemagne, who was known to have a palace in Herstal, to the start of the 20th century, the history of Herstal occupies several rooms. Nicknamed the “city of the armourers”, many objects are on display including the Demoiselles de Herstal, the name given to the motorbikes (FN, Sarolea, Gillet, Brondoit) that were manufactured in the city’s workshops.
