Grand-Place

The Grand-Place really is the heart of this historic city.
Every year, it is the scene of the battle known as "Lumeçon" : the legendary battle of Saint George against the dragon.
It off ers an exceptional architectural vista, with buildings dating from the 15th century to today. In the centre of the Grand-Place, a Carrières du Hainaut blue stone ring evokes the combat arena known as the "Lumeçon". Each of the names of the 18 entities that make up the Great Mons is engraved on it.
