Description

It is to a former highwayman, who became St. Landelin, that Lobbes owes its important status. He founded a powerful Benedictine monastery there in the VIIth century. On the steep slope at the side of the collegiate church, you can wander through a number of pretty alleyways and learn about the adventures of the Magyars who besieged the village over a thousand years ago. The ‘Portelette’, the gateway to Thudinie, welcomes the cautious traveller. A military wall, running alongside a lane, stretches downs to the banks of the Sambre.
