The village is marked by the imprint of the abbey church, from the XIth-XIIth centuries, which is a fine example of Romanesque art, influenced by Saintonge and Poitou: ambulatory, octagonal bell tower, sculpted decoration of great quality. The abbey, founded in the 11th century by William VIII of Aquitaine, was home in the 12th century to a community under the order of Saint Augustine. Several times devastated (Hundred Years War, Wars of Religion), it was rebuilt in the 18th century and sold in 1792 as a national asset. Summer exhibition of various works. To discover also, the museum of automatons.
