Description

In Pontmain, the missionary museum has been renovated. It is located at the head of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate mission chapel.
The Museum of the Missions retraces the history of the 4,500 missionary fathers around the world since the beginning of the 19th century, in Mexico, Cameroon, Chad, South Africa, Asia and the Canadian Far North.

For children, come and build an igloo! A new 5-step teaching method has been put in place to highlight the fact that the Catholic mission involves stepping out of one's comfort zone to meet others and discover the richness of different cultures.

The Museum combines encounters with others and the humanity that unites us.
Several themes: Coming out of your shell, Speaking the language
Other themes to come: Bearing witness, Contemplating, A collective adventure, Justice and peace, Proclaiming the Word

It's free, and an Oblate missionary is waiting for you.

The Missionary Oblates arrived in Pontmain in 1872, at the request of the Bishop of Laval, to develop the pilgrimage and build the basilica.

Access is via the Relais Le Bocage car park. Entrance via the cloister of the chapel.
