Bastide de Cazères-sur-l'Adour

Description

Cazères-sur-l'Adour is a small bastide founded in 1313 by parage between Marguerite de Foix and the abbot of Saint-Jean-de-la-Castelle.
If part of its heritage has disappeared over the centuries, it retains the typical plan of the bastides around a central square on which gives a large church. Gaston Fébus was not mistaken about the importance of its site, since he made it the seat of one of the main bailiwicks of the vicomté of Marsan in the second half of the 14th century.
