Situated 800 metres from the village, the Falouse caves get theirname from the word “falaise” (cliff). Justifiably so, because the Rivern Meuse carved out a cliffhere in the coral limestone thousands ofyears ago. The stone is a reminderofeven oldertimes when the whole region was covered by a warm sea. Corals grew and, gradually, became fossilised. Awell-shaded footpath runs past the foot ofthe caves, overlooking the Meuse. This has been a very popularplace fora stroll among people from Verdun and the neighbouring villages formany years.
