Vast oak forest of 800 ha, the state forest of Saint-Sauvant is managed sustainably by the Office National des Forêts: in addition to the production of timber and the protection of biodiversity, the reception of the public is part of the functions of the forest: several marked footpaths, remembrance trail (war of 39-45), equestrian and mountain bike circuit.
The forest is crossed by the GR 364 joining the woods of the Grand Parc de Lusignan to those of Rom in the Deux-Sèvres. A discovery trail allows to enhance the family walk from the new reception area in the southern part of the forest. In the northern part, the pond trail allows you to discover a fauna and flora very characteristic of wetlands.
