Mazamet "in run of wool" allows you to discover, on foot, the city, its history and its architecture. You will know how this small rural village "exploded" in the XIXth century thanks to the innovative industrial wool trade, described as "revolutionary".
Mazamet faced its destiny around 1850.
Mr Houlès, an industrialist, imported sheep skins from Argentina and developed a new way to separate wool from sheep skin called "délainage".
This financial and economic miracle changed the face of Mazamet city for about one hundred years.
