Eglise de Cheissoux

Listed as a Monument Historique since 1984, this church is typical of the small rural churches of the Limousin region built in the 13th century, with its simple plan, wall-belfry and Limousin portal. Its harmony is also due to the local materials used (granite and flat tiles) and the quality of the restoration work carried out between 1996 and 1999. The interior and exterior of the building feature a number of interesting elements: the niche in the bell-wall with a statue of the Virgin and Child, the 15th-century square cross (a monumental cross listed as a Monument Historique) and a funerary liter.
