La croix de Peyzat

Located at the entrance to the village, the original cross dates from the late 16th century and was rebuilt in the 19th century. The chamfered shaft, base and pedestal are in granite, while the trefoil cross is in limestone. It is carved with a Christ with raised arms on one side and a Virgin and Child on the reverse.
This representation also appears on the shaft. The inscriptions on the crossbeam are badly eroded, with 'Bourdier' thought to be the donor's name. The whole is about 3 meters high. Almost all the crosses in the parish of Glénic were broken by the Beaufils, lords of Peyzat. The Peyzat cross was saved thanks to a local resident who threatened to kill them.
