Lantourne bridge

Lantourne bridge

Description

Former railway bridge used for the passage of the Tulle-Ussel Tacot (train). This 207m long metal cage bridge was only built in 1949 around Marcillac because of the construction of the Vallette dam which covered the old Transcorrézien route of 15m of water over 5km. Previously, the train crossed the Doustre (a affluent of the Dordogne) on a small stone bridge (which can still be seen when EDF empties the dam). Today, it serves as a road bridge.
