St Jacques le Majeur church

This church of pure radiant Gothic style (15th) is the only one in the Haute Vienne to be dedicated to Saint James the Greater. Built on the ruins of the castle chapel in the 15th century, you will notice that the church was adapted at various periods (13th, 15th and 19th centuries). This church is particularly famous for its stained glass windows from the late 15th century. They adorn the 3 bays of the apse and are surmounted by a trefoil on 2 clover-shaped arcs. Saints are represented on the left, the apostles in the centre, and on the right are the holy women. Come and admire the high altar and the 18th century gilded wood altarpiece with its twisted columns, niches and statues, as well as twelve granite bases decorated with the busts of angels in the wall of the choir.
