Guided tours for groups (booking required) and an audio-guide help you discover Saint-Junien's heritage. Visit the Tourist Office!
This city of character is internationally renowned for the expertise of its glove makers. Saint-Junien also boasts many other architectural treasures: the narrow streets, the 14th-century Maison des Consuls, the 15th-century Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Pont and the remains of the Saint-Amand abbey. It was on the banks of the Glane that the painter Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot found his inspiration, and today a site bears his name. Every 7 years, Saint-Junien celebrates its two hermits during the ostension ceremonies. These ceremonies are unique in that they involve a procession of over 1,000 people in costume. What's more, Saint-Junien is one of the only towns to have Swiss guards present during the ostensions.
