Hôtel Dieu

Hôtel Dieu

Description

Hôtel-Dieu: Meymac had its own hospital. Antoine Dupuis de Saint Pardoux, Meymac's parish priest, deemed it inadequate and built a new one to house the poor.
It dates from the 17th century (1681). The parish priest of Meymac donated his house because the old hospice behind the church had become too small. The pediment reads "Hospitium hic, alibi patria" = here is a shelter, elsewhere is a homeland.
