Established for more than 60 years in Lanslebourg, the dairy cooperative of Haute Maurienne Vanoise harvests the milk of herds to make mainly Beaufort (cheese PDO) and the famous Bleu de Bonneval-sur-Arc.
You will also find local farm cheeses and yogurts, cured meats, wine, cookies, jams ...
The Lanslebourg cheese dairy was founded in 1954. Initially, it only operated in winter, because in summer the farmers of Mont Cenis worked their milk at the "la Vachère" fruit farm. Then, when it stopped and following successive mergers with fruit farms in the villages of the area, it expanded and modernized.
Today, the agricultural unit is reached since it brings together under the name of Coopérative laitière de Haute Maurienne Vanoise the villages of Aussois, Bramans, Sollières-Sardières, Termignon, Lanslebourg, Lanslevillard, Bessans and Bonneval-sur-Arc. Today it is the reflection of an agriculture combining modernity and authenticity. With 40 farms including 10 in the village of Lanslebourg, the Haute Maurienne Vanoise dairy cooperative currently processes 5 million liters of raw milk. This milk is 90% transformed into Beaufort (i.e. 1000 wheels produced per year) and 10% (65 tonnes) into Bleu de Bonneval.
All year round in the morning, free of charge, you can come and visit our Beaufort manufacturing workshop on the first floor (see our visiting conditions).
