The avalanche risk hollows out the landscape. The old villages were built in places that avoided the previous avalanche sites, the memory of which lives on. After a period of forgetfulness or carelessness, modern urban planning takes this passive protective measure into account by limiting constructability and circulation given the prevention plans based on risk maps. The old entrance of Bonneval is thus limited by the threat of avalanches.
