Barrage de Jousseau

The hydroelectric power station of Jousseau is built by the Société des forces motrices de la Vienne. This plant, built between 1926 and 1928, is part of the La Roche group which has 5 plants on the Vienne.
This dam is 204 m long with a head of 10.20 m and the reservoir is 66 ha, it has a maximum power of 5400 kW and an average production per year of 28,500,000 kWH. These results are due to the efficiency of three vertical Francis turbines - original! - which are still in operation: their total flow is 75 m3 per second. At present, 22 technicians and specialists are permanently working for the operation and maintenance of the power plants of the La Roche group.
The dam also has a machine room and an old reinforced concrete transformer.
