In its current state, most of the church’s appearance dates from the eighteenth century. Over the course of subsequent centuries, the refurbishments to the building primarily affected the apse and the steeple.
Facing due east (towards the sunrise), the church rises above an outlier on the banks of the Moselle. It lies far from the village it belongs to, pointing its flat apse prolonged by a sacristy towards the village. A chamber under the sacristy may have served as an ossuary in the nineteenth century, replacing an older one on the south side that was recognised as being in ruins in 1752.
