As you arrive in Hettange-Grande, the church of Saint Etienne, built on a rocky spur, overlooks the village and urges you up for a visit. Built on the remains of a medieval castle, of which all that remains is a well and a tower, this church will certainly draw your eye with its bell tower set at an angle from the rest of the church, giving it an astonishing appearance. Its stained-glass windows were created by Jean Barillet in a figurative but stylised fashion. At the foot of the church flows the Kissel, a stream that winds its way through the village.
