Description
L'eau s'infiltre dans ce plateau calcaire, érode la roche et forme des dolines. Ailleurs, sur des terrains rendus imperméables par d'anciens dépôts glaciaires, l'eau stagne et forme les tourbières typiques de la région. Près d'ici, passait la grande route de Bourgogne, et servait principalement au transport du sel, marchandise très précieuse provenant de Salins.
